“Lucky”

Part III of “Literary Definitions in Mixed Media: An Anthology”

I don’t have a poem, or anything crafted to write out about this word. All I know is, “this is a story about a girl named, Lucky.” 😉

Lucky, is one way to describe my life.

A lot of that felt stupid unnecessary, though.

Truth is, this was inspired by Halsey’s music video, of the same name, which she wrote, and Gia Coppola, directed. It’s quite beautiful. And I loved that she left Britney’s original chorus in there:

From there, I thought about all these different pop culture and media throughout the years and how lucky I am to be alive and to experience such powerful and beautiful art forms. So, dear reader, please sit down and get cozy and read my list of things that inspired this creation.

  • Romeo + Juliet (1996, directed by Baz Luhrmann) — I thought of William, naturally… and Freshman Honors English class in High School — required reading… (must I even start with Mercurcio?!)

Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
