It’s crazy what will inspire you to write

I got the bougiest manicure of my life today — and the color I chose made me think of the following:

Mermaids (and the man who used to call me his mermaid over a decade ago)

When the ocean sparkles back at you

A particularly starry nebula right in my hands

Like what I see when looking into my daughter’s blue eyes

Jumping fences into apartment pools shimmering off the sun’s reflection when I’m 16

A party dress I now must now find and own

A celebration with glitter bombs as confetti to commemorate the magic of the diamond in the turquoise box

An aura so calming but gleams so bright it blesses every hand it shakes

It looks like I got in a boxing match with a turquoise rock, and it scarred my fingertips, leaving them to twinkle

I appreciate even in the mundane things to inspire me to put something together. To remind me of people, places, moments of my youth, dreams, spirituality, fashion, and other things I enjoy.

Queen of Diamonds went outside her box and boy is she shiny as ever / author

Writing poems since before I knew what poetry meant. Maybe, that's why I never kept a single one. Not until my heart broke open did I start keeping my words.
